If this reporting is accurate (and I do not know yet that it is), I would say that Oregon, Eugene, and the University have embarrassed themselves yet again in navigating matters of diversity and justice — and that reinstatement needs to happen immediately. The ‘special snowflake’ line in the story is also out of line– this case is not about minorities on college campuses asking for people to address them respectfully, focusing on language instead of substance, but about the hapless, idiotic excesses of white neoliberals made in a place which lacks diversity and poc.
