I grew up looking to Gandhi and King, to the principles of nonviolent resistance. Yet these methods were meant to be applied against the state and its unjust powers and actions, to force the conscience of the people– not for these clergy, quakers, mothers and young children to be bludgeoned by the armed, blood-seeking e-radicalized alt-youth. Perhaps after-the-fact, Trump has made it clear that the state is indeed on the side of the alt-right, but that is not the same thing. I think here I would fall in with the Anti-fa and the Anarchists, protecting those who came to protest unarmed, and I am thankful for them. Trump’s moral equivocation is the saddest moment in the tragedy and bufoonery of his Presidency to date. And he will Trump it.
